Stun Guns and TASER Needed to Subdue Probert
Police officers were called to the scene of an altercation when former Blackhawks star Bob Probert got into it with a group of bystanders over recreational drugs. Probert, who had a reputation for playing hard both on the ice and off, let his temper get the best of him one time too many.
Mr. Probert made his NHL debut during the 1985-1986 season after being drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the third round (46th overall) in the 1983 draft. A native of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, he is a brown belt in the Sherdog Mixed Martial Arts organization. He reigned as the undisputed heavyweight champion of the NHL during his prime. He built his reputation as “a fearless fighter who rarely lost.” In fact, many experts consider him the greatest fighter in hockey history.
His training background in wrestling and judo did him no good when police had to intervene in the altercation. It took not only a TASER but also stun guns to subdue the former hockey giant after officials confronted him for allegedly parking his SUV on the wrong side of the street. The 2004 altercation signaled the end of his hockey career.
Eventually, the 16 year veteran was acquitted on all charges surrounding the incident.
