Florida Gun Shop Owner Showcases Stun Guns
The Fort Myers, Florida shop Guns R Us takes it one step further. As the need for personal protection on a non lethal level is climbing, owner Brian Waldron decided to market Taser stun guns to his customers in an innovative move. Much like Tupperware and cosmetics companies have done, and with great success, Guns R Us is now marketing Tasers through a “party” format.
Waldron estimates that he has moved in excess of 30 Tasers in the past couple of months. He says that in his gun shop he is seeing more and more people who are not gun friendly. Tasers are like the missing link between firearms and virtually no protection.
Tasers are capable of delivering a 50,000-volt dose of electrical charge that can stop an attacker in his tracks. Using an inert compressed gas, the non lethal weapon fires a pair of barbed probes which are attached by insulated wires to the hand-held unit. Unlike plain stun guns, Tasers’ leading edge technology delivers a “shaped charge” that incapacitates an individual by interfering with the brain’s ability to exert control over voluntary muscles. The 30-second recovery period provides valuable time needed to handcuff a suspect or, for the regular citizenry, to beat a hasty retreat.
For the “party,” Waldron scheduled a certified Taser instructor.
The $300 Taser model in stock at Guns R Us has barbed projectiles which can reach an attacker up to fifteen feet away. The police models have a thirty foot reach.
