Tasers Used to Save Woman’s Life

Police were called to a domestic dispute Saturday evening when witnesses said they had seen a man threatening to kill a woman in his bedroom.

Shortly before seven o’clock local law enforcement officials arrived at the home and were able to see for themselves that the woman’s life was at risk. Deputies were able to see what was going on in the bedroom by looking through a place where the blinds were broken. What they saw confirmed the reports.

Her common law husband held her up against a wall and was brandishing a meat cleaver while threatening her life. The fast-acting officers broke a window on the door to unlock it and enter the domicile.

When the suspect discovered law enforcement agents inside the building he grabbed the woman and swung her around to use her as a shield as he turned toward the officers. The woman was understandably distraught. She was able to keep him from cutting her by pressing “the assailant’s weapon-wielding arm up against the wall.”

A total of five officers on the scene drew their service firearms. The suspect, who had been threatening to kill the woman, then taunted the officers and demanded that they kill him instead.

When the sergeant was able to get a clear shot at a few inches between armpit and waistband and he triggered the Taser and the incident was over immediately.
