Teen Uses Cell Phone Stun Gun to Avoid Date Rape

When her date plied her with alcohol, offered drugs, then lured her upstairs and began to press her for sexual favors the young lady declined and pretended to answer her cell phone. When the fellow wouldn’t take no for an answer and tried to corner her and force his intentions, she nailed him with her newly acquired cell phone stun gun. As she went back downstairs she used her real cell phone to call for a ride and left the party unscathed but definitely the wiser.

Who hasn’t made a bad judgment call and then had to do some fancy footwork to avoid disaster? Fortunately, the young woman in this situation had been given a cell phone stun gun by her father who is a law enforcement officer. He had taken the time to discuss various scenarios and how to handle them. He had also taken responsibility for training her in how and when to use a non lethal weapon. In this case it prevented a case of date rape.

In today’s society with climbing numbers of assaults against women and girls, parents and other adults are not only teaching the females in their care about how to avoid dangerous situations but are also arming them. Non lethal weapons chosen for this application usually include pepper spray or a model of stun gun which can be carried inconspicuously and used with ease. It’s not enough to provide the weapon, however. Training is crucial.

In the interview with law enforcement officials, the girl stated that the training time with her dad was what made the difference in her ability to fend off her date’s unwanted advances.

Her dad said he insisted on the training because, in his line of work, he had seen way too many young women who were mentally unprepared and otherwise defenseless when facing similar situations. In those cases the results were usually disastrous.
