Mace Pepper Spray Deters Would Be Abductors

Mace pepper spray saved the day when two women found themselves in a dangerous situation after work.

After hearing about a rash of assaults in the area, two officer workers decided to educate and arm themselves. First, they got in touch with local law enforcement agency to find out about taking a personal safety course. The six-class seminar they took was designed specifically for women and taught by both male and female officers. The opportunity to practice resisting unwanted attentions of larger males is a major component of the course designed to simulate real life situations and how to respond.

Second, these women did the research. They carefully considered whether or not to purchase firearms and decided not to go that route. That left non lethal weapons. After studying the range of weapons available, they decided on the pepper spray that also contains tear gas and a UV dye which marks the target for several days.

These safety-conscious women each figured out how to hold, carry, and use the mace pepper spray should a situation arise. Good thing.

A few weeks later, as the pair were going to their vehicles in the company parking garage a situation developed. Each carried her pepper spray and keys in the ready position. Just as they reached their respective vehicles, parked together, two would-be assailants sprang from their nearby hiding places.

The women turned back-to-back as the men approached. One woman yelled that they were armed with mace pepper spray and that the guys should stop. The men kept coming. As they came within range, both women released a burst of spray right into their faces. The men stopped screaming obscenities as the women got into the car and drove away. The passenger called the cops who arrived in time to take the bad guys into custody.
