Small Stun Gun Really Delivers
Today’s small stun gun is a real delight in the field of miniaturization. The biggest components are the batteries. When you think of the difference between the boom boxes that used to dominate American sound and today’s MP3 players that will give you a good idea of the state of the art in non lethal weapons.
There are still models of the early fistful styles of stun guns. They do look intimidating. But they don’t have much stopping power, by comparison, and the circuitry is primitive. In many cases, earlier models, which relied mainly on pain for control, only made the target even more angry and didn’t even slow him down. The results were not pretty.
Today’s circuitry is highly sophisticated. Tasers, which not only function as stun guns but can also fire barbed probes that deliver a debilitating shock, make use of Neuromuscular Incapacitation (NMI). The shaped pulse is a two-parter. The first part makes its way through clothing and the second part literally overrides the command and control systems of the body. In English that means the brain can’t tell the muscles what to do – things like “Stand up.”
Stun guns dependent on pain aversion sometimes aren’t even noticed by the target if he (or she) is in a rage, hopped up on drugs, or mentally unstable. The newer technology is not something anyone can ignore. You just fall down – right where you are. In fact, injuries to the target are more likely to be from how and where they fall than anything else. If there is a lot of debris on the ground, some of it angular and hard, expect scrapes and bruises.
The best thing about this kind of stun gun is that it can provide a few seconds for you to hit the road. In fact, that’s exactly what you should do: Leave–as fast as you can.
Call help later, if you want, but get out.
