Stun Gun: Controversy Worldwide
Whenever there is a death or serious injury in the news, and a stun gun is involved, there are all kinds of discussions that pop up. For the most part, the issues involve law enforcement and their use of stun guns. After an incident has occurred an officer can face many questions whether they used the stun gun or not.
Recently, there was a news article coming out of Australia that highlighted two separate incidents and their very different outcomes. This story discussed two young people who made bad decisions. One lost their life and the other was simply subjected to an electric shock. It is easy to look back with 20/20 vision when all the facts have been gathered and decide that a stun good should or should not have been used. In the heat of the moment, it can be impossible to know for sure what exactly is going on.
There have been plenty of stories that have circulated in which a person has been killed because they were thought to be carrying a gun. Many wonder why a stun gun was not used instead of a gun. The direct contact necessary to use a stun gun would be a deterrent in this particular situation. However, more and more law enforcement agencies are making stun guns available and training them in their use. There are plenty of situations that occur every day in which a stun gun would be a welcome option. Stun guns can save lives as a non-lethal choice!
As long as there are people committing crimes and others working to prevent them there will be controversy surrounding this issue. For all the people using stun guns worldwide, these can be a wonderful asset when it comes to personal, as well as public, protection.
