Stun Gun in the Wrong Hands, Austin
A man was pulled over recently in Austin and his car was like a mobile crime scene. After all the charges were racked up the list was long and varied. The vehicle was full of incriminating items including a stun gun.
The police found methamphetamine, what may have been pepper spray, a police scanner, a digital scale covered in meth residue, and a pile of cold hard cash. There was also an iPhone in the car that included pictures of the man with firearms.
The Austin police had help through a confidential informant in this case. The informant had tipped them off to the fact that the man was living in a camper and appeared to be selling meth. After the iPhone pictures were viewed it looked as if meth may not be the only thing the man was dealing. Firearms may have been another item the man was selling.
The iPhone is not serving the man well. The pictures have been very incriminating and have given prosecutors ample evidence in their case. Several felony charges have stemmed from the evidence found on the car and at the time of the arrest.
Unfortunately, stun guns and other items used for personal protection are often found with criminals. The sad fact is that just about anyone can get and use these devices. Although they are great for actual protection, they do fall into less than desirable hands.
It is important to know and understand the laws regarding personal protection tools in your area so that you do not mistakenly become a criminal. A simple Google search or call to your local dealer should be able to answer your questions.
