Pepper Spray Used on Officer; Woman with Stun Gun Comes for Rescue
A woman was on her way to get some shopping done when she noticed a crowd surrounding an officer and suspect as they fought. The police office was under attack.
“It was just crazy. I just told my mom pull over…let’s try to help,” Tanisha Cross told a local media station. “There were a lot of people standing there just watching, and there were a lot of guys, and I'm like these guys aren't going to help. I figured someone should be the bigger person and try to help the officer.”
Being prepared paid off for Tanisha and the officer. She went to her vehicle and got the stun gun she just received over the holidays. During the time she left to get the stun gun the officer’s situation has worsened, he now had pepper spray in his eyes and his radio had been removed leaving him unable to contact help.
Tanisha was smart and asked the officer if he needed help. After his go ahead Mrs. Cross used the stun gun through several cycles. Meanwhile the officer was fighting through the pepper spray. A security guard also helped to subdue the man in the end.
Mrs. Cross was smart in several ways. She observed that the officer needed help and chose to be the person to step up. She was also thinking clearly as she realized she could use the stun gun she recently has acquired for Christmas. Most importantly, she asked the offer if he wanted her help and went for it when he said that he did.
