Police Chief Uses Stun Gun On A Fellow Officer
Not only did one law enforcement officer use a stun gun on another officer, the stun gun wielder was the Chief of Police. The incident occurred in May of 2008 in Granger, Washington. Many people have had serious issues with the event.
The fallout is still underway in the small town where Robert Perales used a stun gun a fellow officer of the law. There are conflicting numbers circulating about how long Mr. Perales, 45, has served in the granger area, between 12 and 15 years. The mayor did fire Perales after the confrontation. However, the story does not end there.
Mr. Perales next became the Police Chief in another small town in the same area, Mabton. He is now a victim of the economy and his position has been cut. Perales also has had a court decide that the mayor did not have enough evidence to fire Perales in the first place.
As of January, 23, 2009 the Chief was back. A group of at least 30 people showed their opinion about Chief Granger getting his job back by demonstrating in front of the City Hall in Granger. They do not want him back and feel that he has gotten away with his actions. Not only is he back, but he can collect the wages he lost between the time he was fired and his reinstatement.
In another strange twist, the officer that was on the receiving end of the stun gun is reporting to Chief Perales once again. Sometimes life creates sticky situations and this appears to be one of them. Nothing like a little drama to keep the locals on their toes.
