Violence Stopped by Stun Gun
A stun gun can bring a very quick end to a violent situation. Police officers know how to use these personal protection devices to help them gain control of bad guys who are making bad choices, for themselves or for those around them.
A 36 year old man in Yavapai County was recently arrested after a violent night. He supposedly slapped his grandmother. He also is accused of stabbing another woman in the same incident.
Paramedics were called out to help the victims. The out of control man, William Maloy, was not cooperating with police on the scene. As the paramedics were working with the injured women, Mr. Maloy was holding a pocketknife to his throat.
The deputies ordered Maloy to drop the knife. Maloy did comply with that order; however, he continued to fight with the deputies. Finally, the officers found it necessary to use a stun gun. Mr. Maloy was taken to the hospital and evaluated.
A search of Mr. Maloy’s home revealed drug use. There was evidence that meth and marijuana had been used. The use of these drugs may have led to the violent incident and the use of the taser.
Deputies were able to get Mr. Maloy under control with a minimal amount of damage. The use of the stun gun helped deputies to save Mr. Maloy from his own bad decisions. He has been charged with several assaults as well as possession of illegal drugs.
Through good team work everyone left the incident. The paramedics were able to car for the women. Mr. Maloy ended up in jail, and none of the deputies were injured. The stun gun kept the situation from escalating.
