Taser Ends Volatile Situation
For law enforcement officers, a domestic violence call represents one of the most dangerous calls they can get dispatched too. Tasers and other forms of personal protection devices help them to be able to increase their safety as well as the safety of any other people involved. Any edge in a possibly dangerous situation is obviously desirable.
Officers were forced to use a Taser on David Scott, a 46 year old man. Mr. Scott was resisting arrest at the time; officers were present after taking a call involving a domestic violence dispute. “When he went down to the ground, he was kicking his legs.” stated one of the officers.
Mr. Scott was placed under arrest and charged with a litany of items. Along with the domestic violence charge, he is also facing charges of resisting arrest and driving under suspension.
The Taser use was needed as Mr. Scott was combative with the arresting officers. The female victim of the domestic violence dispute told officers that he slapped her, pushed her down, and had previously stolen her pain medication. He left the scene of the crime and was found shortly thereafter. He denies that he hit his girlfriend.
After the use of the Taser Scott stated he was having chest pains. He was transferred to the local hospital and underwent a medical evaluation. Scott was medically cleared and taken to jail.
This particular domestic violence situation ended without anyone suffering from long term injuries. The use of the Taser allowed officers to get Mr. Scott under control and place him under arrest. A Taser is a useful tool in the law enforcement community.
