Taser versus Criminal Suspects
In Delaware, a man actually assaulted police officers. The police were called to Jonathan Young’s home about a domestic disturbance. When they arrived Young hid in his bedroom and refused to come out. An altercation began between Young and the officers when they tried to remove him by force. Young fought back so much that the one officer sprained his ankle, twisted his knee and suffered from multiple bruises.
The struggle ended when the police stopped him with a Taser. Young was arrested and charged with assaulting police officers, among many other charges. I would bet that he is regretting his choices right about now.
But Young probably isn’t regretting his choices as much as Aaron Smith of Frankfurt, OH.
Mr. Smith had the police called on him after stealing over $400 from a local Wal-Mart. The police located him after he didn’t use a turning signal and from there, Mr. Smith led the police in a short chase.
He eventually started to run on foot and was told repeatedly to stop and that he was under arrest. An officer eventually was close enough to use his Taser and warned Mr. Smith to stop or he would be shot with the Taser. Mr. Smith didn’t stop and was hit by the Taser from ten feet away.
When the police searched his car, they found the stolen merchandise as well as expired tags that happened to be fictitious as well.
Crime doesn’t pay and these two gentlemen found out the hard way. I am sure they won’t be forgetting their experience with a Taser any time soon, and hopefully they have learned their lessons.
