A Stun Gun Brings a Drug Dealer Down

Finally! A city is doing something about gun and gang crime, not to mention the drug problem. In fact, just the other day they arrested a suspected drug dealer after subduing him with a stun gun.

In Birmingham, Alabama the police have set up patrols to attempt to stop gang activity, as well as gun crime. This has proven most successful so far. In fact they aren’t just getting people involved in gangs.

A 19 year old male who was suspected of selling drugs with another man was arrested the other day. He was stopped because of suspicious activity and when he resisted arrest, the police used a stun gun in order to calm him down.

The police have been using their stun guns first and foremost in these kinds of stops. Of the 82 times that the stun guns have been pulled on suspects who aren’t cooperating, the stun guns have been discharged only 41 times. The other half of the time, just pulling out the stun gun has coerced the uncooperative individual into submission.

I think that this is great. The police are stopping crime and nobody is getting fatally injured. Nobody is being killed over drugs and guns. That is the beauty of the stun guns that the police use. They can effectively subdue criminals who don’t want to submit to the authorities, and they can do this without permanently injuring them. It’s even more impressive that half of the people that the stun gun is pulled on submit without the stun gun being discharged. Stun guns are an incredible breakthrough for law enforcement and I’m glad that they are in use.
