Self Defense With a Box Knife May Get a Young Girl in Trouble

Can you imagine being a teenager and having to defend yourself? I can’t, but I know that there have been plenty of teenagers who have had to defend themselves against a variety of attackers.

I just read a story about a fifteen year old girl cutting a man with a box knife in self defense. Apparently, the girl’s family was letting the man stay in their home in exchange for work. She told the police that the man made a gesture that scared her. The gesture made her think that he was trying to grab her. So, she grabbed a box knife and cut his neck, making her attack on him self defense.

But there is more to the story and I think it is a little strange. Earlier in the day, the man had been in a fight with a neighbor down the street. He came back home after the fight. He planned on going back to the neighbor’s house to confront the neighbor again. The girl wanted to prevent this and that is when he tried to grab her.

The police have found it a little strange as well. They are still looking into the situation and trying to determine whether any charges should be brought against the young girl. More than likely they won’t bring any charges against her. It would be a shame if they did because charges like that could ruin her life.

It would have been better if the family had been better prepared. If they had had self defense weapons like pepper spray or a Taser, then I don’t think it would have been as big of a deal. The girl could properly defend herself while not putting the man’s life at risk.
