Pepper Spray Wins Over an AK-47

If this story doesn’t make people have faith in pepper spray, I don’t know what will. Some places have outlawed pepper spray, and in some places there is some controversy over it. But while with any self defense product there may be draw backs, the positive benefits most definitely outweigh the negative.

A woman from Guyana, a country just north of Brazil, recently defended herself from some burglars. Most of the time a woman like this wouldn’t be able to defend herself, just because she happened to be 72. But thanks to pepper spray, she was able to ward off the home invaders.

A little after 10 pm while watching American Idol, the 72 year old woman’s house was invaded by two robbers, one of them being armed with an AK-47. If you aren’t too familiar with guns, an AK-47 is an assault rifle which makes it a pretty scary gun to have pointed at you.

The man armed with the AK-47 pointed it at her husband, who was brave enough to try to wrestle it away. The man’s partner was armed with an iron bar and struck the woman’s husband.

The older woman wasn’t just going to stand by and let her husband be abused in such a way, let alone all of the possessions that she had worked so hard to acquire over the years. She reached for her pepper spray and sprayed the man with the iron bar who was striking her husband.

When this happened, both of the men fled in fear. The man with the iron bar had been temporarily blinded and need help leaving.

Thanks to pepper spray, an elderly woman and her husband were saved from being robbed and perhaps losing their lives.
