Youth Pastors Learn Batman Self Defense

Self defense is important for everyone, and “everyone” just happens to include youth pastors. Some youth pastors from Dallas are starting to learn self defense, but not just for themselves. They are also learning it so that they can protect the youths they have been put in charge of.

The technique that these youth pastors are learning is called the Keysi Fighting Method. Keysi (pronounced like the letters “KC”) was made popular by the recent Batman movies, especially Batman Begins. But why would youth pastors need to learn how to defend themselves and their youth groups?

Many youth groups go on mission trips to other countries for short periods of time. Knowing how to defend the teens, the youth pastor can help the teens feel safe, as well as set the youth pastor’s own mind at ease. It is a crazy world out there after all.

But danger isn’t just in another country. Sometimes danger is right here at home. There have been many churches that have had violence shake the congregation’s spirits. Being trained in self defense could possibly prevent violence from entering into our country’s own holy places.

The Keysi Fighting Method isn’t for picking a fight. It is for defending oneself when the fight finds the individual. It isn’t to promote violence, but to prepare an individual to properly handle violence when it happens.

I personally think that more churches across the country should have their youth pastors trained in self defense. There is nothing more important than the safety of our youths. Properly trained youth pastors will help ensure that our youths are kept safe.
