Woman Kills Husband With a Sword in Self Defense

I couldn’t do it. I could not murder my own spouse, even if they were coming at me with a sword and I had to defend myself. I would totally use my Taser in self defense, but I couldn’t kill my spouse. That would just be too hard to live with.

Unfortunately, Naomi Valdivia didn’t have a Taser gun, stun gun, pepper spray, or any other kind of self defense weapon.

Apparently, after several arguments with her husband, Naomi Valdivia got into a struggle with him. According to her, he came at her with a sword and was trying to kill her. In the midst of the struggle, she grappled the sword away from him. She then used the sword to kill him.

Naomi Valdivia is facing serious charges because she acted in self defense. She is being charged with murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and inflicting corporal injury on a spouse.

This is a very tragic story on many levels. It is sad that someone could be driven to attack someone with a sword due to indifferences in the marriage. It is also sad that she didn’t have any means of self defense. What is worse is that she ended up killing her husband in self defense. If she had had another means of self defense, this whole mess could have been avoided. She wouldn’t be facing murder charges and her husband wouldn’t be dead.

I think that the right to self defense is important. But I don’t think that self defense means that someone should end up dead. In my opinion, people need more less lethal self defense weapons.
