Stun Gun Subdues Suicidal High Speed Chase Driver
A man from Georgia must have been having a hard time in his life. He got himself drunk and started to drive and caused quite a big scene. This only made his life more miserable because he wound up getting zapped by a stun gun and arrested on several charges.
On a Friday morning, Thomas Lackey got in his car, intoxicated. He started driving and he was weaving all over the road. When a police officer tried to pull him over, he thought that he could outrun the police. This was the beginning of a high speed chase that made the news later that night.
The police followed as close behind Lackey as they could whle he reached speeds of 130 miles per hour. He eventually crossed the meridian of the road heading into oncoming traffic. This caused many people to drive off the road. But soon he was running straight towards another police cruiser.
Lackey sideswiped the cruiser and then ran off the road and crashed. Strangely enough, he crashed not too far from the police headquarters.
When the police came rushing toward Lackey, he started to act violent and was screaming, “Shoot me! Shoot me!” The officers didn’t want to kill Lackey, however. Instead, one of the officers took out a stun gun and stunned Lackey with it.
Lackey was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, fleeing, resisting arrest, and many other traffic violations.
Thankfully, no one was hurt in the high speed chase. And thanks to the use of a stun gun, the drunk driver wasn’t seriously hurt and neither were the officers. Now justice can be served to the man who thought he could outrun the law.
