Man with a Gun Subdued With a Stun Gun

The use of a stun gun is a wonderful alternative to the use of a sidearm because a stun gun is less lethal. That is the very reason why police departments all around the world are using stun guns. Their goal isn’t to kill criminals. Their goal is to arrest them so that they can face justice in a fair trial.

I just read this story and I think it is a great example of positive stun gun usage.

The police department in Fort Wayne, Indiana received a call about a man waving a gun at his family members. The police responded and quickly arrived at the house of Eddie Martin, Sr. Inside, Martin was beating up two of his own family members.

The police quickly went into the house and tried to arrest Martin, but he didn’t want to be arrested. Martin put up a fight and so the officers had to use a stun gun on him. His unloaded gun was collected as evidence because he was a felon. He had also been arrested for battery before.

Because Martin had a gun, the police were completely justified to pull their own guns. If Martin would have put up a fight while the guns were drawn, things could have gotten ugly. But that’s not the way it happened. Instead, the officers used a stun gun and kept the situation relatively calm. No one was seriously hurt in the arrest and now Martin can go to court for a fair trial.
