Self Defense Case in Paradise Doubtful
Not long ago in Hawaii a young man was killed by a knife. The man who killed him claims it was in self defense, but I seriously doubt that that is the case. Listen to the story and decide for yourself.
The story starts in a bar. 19 year old Steven Wilcox’s uncle allegedly hit on another man’s wife. Well, naturally the husband, Glenn Keohokapu, was upset about it. To try to make things right and mellow everyone out, Wilcox bought a round of drinks for everyone in the bar.
Keohokapu went outside with his wife and started arguing. When Wilcox went outside to meet his girlfriend in the parking lot, he saw Keohokapu pushing his wife around. Wilcox didn’t like the idea of a woman being pushed around like that, so he took off his shirt and jewelry and prepared to fight the angry husband. That’s when things got ugly.
Keohokapu pulled out his pocket knife that had a three and a half inch blade. His own brother got between the two men in an attempt to prevent a fight from happening. But Keohokapu reached around his brother and drove the whole blade into Wilcox’s heart. Wilcox bled to death while Keohokapu drove away.
I’m sorry, but you don’t pull a knife out to defend yourself from an unarmed man who is the same size as you. A knife isn’t a weapon for self defense. Pepper spray, a stun gun, a Taser…those are self defense weapons. Not a knife. And it isn’t self defense when the unarmed guy you stab hasn’t even touched you.
