TASER Needed Twice to Subdue Hallucinating Man
How long will it take for mankind to learn that hallucinogens and driving do not mix? One California man is learning this lesson the hard way. He mixed the two and ended up having some very close encounters with a TASER. For his sake and ours, let’s hope that the lesson sticks.
After taking who knows what, Willie Ward-Williams took to the streets in his automobile. He was driving very recklessly and nearly crashed into several other cars before flipping his own.
When paramedics and police arrived, the medics tried to tend to Ward-Williams’ wounds, but he kept trying to pick a fight with the officers. He became so aggressive that a TASER was required to subdue him. He was then strapped down on a gurney and taken to the hospital.
At the hospital, he freed himself from the gurney and struck a police officer in the face. It took 10 officers to wrestle him to the ground and still he didn’t give up. Because physical force and verbal commands didn’t work, the officers again used a TASER to subdue him. He was then kept in the hospital for 13 hours to recover from his wounds from the wreck and to recover from the drugs.
Ward-Williams could have hurt himself and others worse than he did, but thankfully, he was stopped, thanks to a TASER.
There is a reason why many drugs are illegal and this is a good example of why. But thankfully, police officers have a way to subdue people when they behave like this. TASERs have once again proven themselves as useful tools that are safe and effective.
