Pepper Spray Saves Cop’s Family from Intruder
Home is where the heart is, as many people would agree. It’s the center of memories of your children, of your husband or wife, and the family pet among many other things. It houses the love and the cherished moments that are never going to be forgotten. However, what if someone were to come into your home uninvited? This unfortunately happened in the home of Officer Roger Nielson of Black River Falls, Wisconsin. Fortunately, he had his pepper spray with him.
Derek Nelson was found in Officer Neilson’s home by Neilson’s wife and daughter. When they came home they found him standing in the living room watching the television, laughing at whatever was on. The court records do not specify whether the wife and daughter left the house or if Nelson had fled for the time being.
Court records do show that when Officer Neilson returned home, he found Nelson looking for food in the refrigerator. Officer Neilson used pepper spray on the trespasser and subdued him.
Derek Nelson was arrested on charges of criminal trespassing, misdemeanor theft, and resisting an officer. He also stole a package of feathers which was being used by the police officer’s daughter for a school project.
It is very important to keep your loved ones safe as well as your home. It’s a great thing that Officer Neilson had pepper spray and used it on the intruder. Who knows what could’ve happened if it was out of reach or, worse yet, not available at all. I couldn’t imagine having a stranger in my home. If that was to happen to me, I would want to have pepper spray to protect me and my loved ones as well.
