TASER Stops Carjacker after Chase
If I could I would keep a TASER in my car. I have heard too many stories about people being robbed when they are getting in or out of their car. It’s frightening. Our cars are a big part of our lives and they get us from place to place. That’s why I’m glad that the police at least have TASERs when stories like this take place.
In Midvale, Utah, Robert Guyre began his attempted carjacking at a gas station. A woman pulled into the gas station after leaving the car wash. According to Sgt. John Salazar, Guyre tried to rob the woman and then steal her car. She started screaming hysterically. Her cry and hue grabbed the attention of an employee and another customer.
They both chased him on foot through a Wal-Mart parking lot. He then tried to carjack another woman according to the police. He didn’t succeed in the carjacking so he took off running again, this time into a service station.
The owner of the service station, Ralph Warner, said that he was working on someone’s car when Guyre came running in, asking for water. Before Guyre could get some water, the police and the two men who were chasing him showed up.
Guyre ran into the bathroom to hide. The officer told Guyre to get on his knees four or five times but Guyre refused to comply. This prompted the officer to tase him. Guyre was taken in for questioning and then to the hospital to be checked out for drugs. I don’t think that he will be trying to steal people’s cars anytime soon, thanks to a TASER.
