Teen Rumble Stopped With Pepper Spray
Pepper spray is often used by law enforcement officers when people don’t cooperate. However, sometimes they use it to help disperse a rowdy crowd of people. Recently, they had to do just that when a bunch of high school students started a big ruckus.
At Carver High School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, a bunch of students started to fight. No one is exactly sure why the rumble took place, but there were so many students involved that teachers and faculty couldn’t break it up, though they gave it their best shot. They soon called the police to help get the students under control.
The fight was big. It started in the school’s main lobby but soon spilled over into the parking lot and into the building next door. Perhaps there was actually a dispute between the dozens of people involved, but more than likely it was just a burst of teenage angst finding an outlet.
When the police arrived, they used pepper spray to disperse the brawlers. Five students were then arrested and taken into custody. There was only one student who had suffered from cuts and scrapes and was treated. Any other injured students had fled to mend their wounds on their own.
While these teenagers must have been pretty upset about something, violence should never be the course of action. Violence only breeds violence and anger. When that happens, the police end up getting involved. Perhaps these students have learned their lesson, or will learn their lesson once they go through the court system. We can only hope that they do or their lives will end up rough.
