Was This Killing in Self Defense?

The right to defend yourself is one of the most important rights that a person has. It is one of the only reasons that our legal system has declared as a moral excuse to take another person’s life. However, some people take advantage of the self defense excuse in order to get away with what is just plain murder.

Recently a man named Ronald Brown was arrested for taking another man’s life. The man that he killed was Marquis Graham. While the police have arrested him for murder, there may be a chance that he killed Graham in self defense. The jury is going to have a hard time figuring this one out.

Apparently, Brown and Graham had been having an ongoing argument and Graham had been looking to settle the dispute. There has been testimony that Graham had been looking for Brown the day that he died. When he found him sitting in a car, he allegedly tried to attack Brown with a knife.

When the knife attack supposedly happened, Brown got out of the car with a gun and shot Graham in the chest in self defense. Did he then call the police? No! He walked away from the scene while the car drove away.

I have a hard time believing him. Who just walks away from shooting a man? Who leaves them to bleed and die on the sidewalk? He could have easily put the knife in the man’s hand after the shooting.

I hate that people abuse the legal system. I hate that they try to get away with murder by calling it something that it is not. I hope that the truth is revealed, whatever the truth may be. I hope that justice prevails.
