Man Claims Fatal Shooting was in Self Defense
It all too place in Ellinwood, Kansas. Harold Eugene Hughes, age 33, was shot and killed by a man, whose name the Barton Country Sheriff’s Office would not release to the public. The man is claiming that the shooting was in self defense.
According to the reports, the man showed up at the victim’s house in a stolen jeep and also with a stolen hand gun. It is unclear how the two men met up, but they did know each other and they began to argue. We weren’t told exactly how the fight started but that man shot and killed Hughes and then claimed it was in self defense.
Later that morning, the shooter called 911 and told them that he had shot and killed another man. The shooter was not arrested but he was taken in for questioning. It’s unclear why there is so much information that is being help back but the investigator did say that this case does look like it was, for sure, self defense.
This is a very cloudy case. There has been little information released to draw any firm conclusions on from the public’s point of view. It’s hard to say if this man was really protecting himself. After all, he chose to put himself in that situation. To me that makes it seem like everything was planned out; that is was a preconceived notion.
Perhaps his plans didn’t go accordingly and he did have to use his weapon. It is unclear. Self defense works in mysterious ways.
