Ohio Town Purchases TASER Guns to Help Keep People Safe

When it comes to crime, there obviously has to be another means of stopping a non-compliant suspect than a gun. That is why the TASER was invented. More and more police departments across the country are adopting the use of these less-lethal weapons. One of the latest cities to adopt their use is Findlay, Ohio.

The police department believes, for very good reason, that by using the stun guns they can avoid injuries to both themselves and the suspects. This is something that they really need to consider in a town of around 40,000 people. The following is just one of the most recent examples of just how effective they can be.

A man had burglarized a house. The police were called and they came rushing to the scene. The burglar fled, but the police tracked him down to another house’s garage. When they confronted him, he started to put up a fight. Due to his non-compliance, one of the officers pulled out his TASER. What is amazing is that he didn’t even need to fire it. Once the man had been targeted, he gave himself up. This happens more often than you might think.

The police have only had to pull their stun gun twice in the last year, but that’s because they have only had one. However, they have finally raised enough to buy a total of fourteen more, so that they can have five of them out on each shift. Sixty officers have been certified to use them. Arming the police departments with TASER guns can be expensive, but it is a price that is worth paying; both for our safety and theirs.
