Young Man Zapped with Stun Gun After Dragging Police Officer with Truck
Police put their lives on the line every day that they are out on the streets. Some officers never have anything crazy happen while on duty, but this officer from Barberton, Ohio sure did. Though he ended up badly hurt, he was still able to use his stun gun in order to wrangle in the perpetrator.
Officer Brandon Watson had pulled over a stolen vehicle. The driver was an 18 year old named Earl McMorrow, and he had stolen the truck after breaking into someone’s garage. After he had stolen it, he picked up a few of his friends. All of this happened while he was high on marijuana, prescription drugs, and cocaine; and he was still high when the officer pulled him over.
When Officer Watson approached the driver’s side of the truck, McMorrow threw the truck into drive and hit the gas. Watson grabbed onto the truck for dear life, not letting the young thief get away so easily. He held on and was dragged alongside the truck until it crashed into a building. In the process of being dragged, the officer broke his pelvis.
Even though the officer had been badly hurt from being dragged by the truck, he was still able to pull out his stun gun and arrest McMorrow. The young man was convicted on several charges, has to spend 14 years in jail, and has his license suspended until he is 50.
This officer is a shining example of the dedication that police officers have in upholding the law. He was willing to risk harm to his body in order to bring in a criminal so that he could face justice.
