TASER Makes Man’s Escape Attempts Futile
When you are in trouble with the police, it is best to just stop doing whatever got you into trouble. Trying to escape only makes your predicament worse. You may even find that if you try to escape, the police will use a TASER on you. One man got himself into a bunch of trouble and learned just how terrible it feels to have 50,000 volts sent through your body.
Blake Townsend of St. Petersburg, Florida had already had a couple DUIs and had a suspended license. But on a Sunday morning he was apparently drunk and driving again…going the wrong way on a one way street. The police pulled him over and told him to get out of the car. He was swaying and was acting drunk. The police tried to give him a breathalyzer test, but he refused.
Then Townsend made his situation worse by trying to run. An officer took out his TASER and shot hit with it, thus thwarting his escape attempt. But his trouble didn’t stop there. He was taken to a hospital after being zapped and was cleared by a doctor. He then asked to use the bathroom.
The officer took the cuffs off and told him to keep the door open. But when a nurse distracted him, Townsend shut the door and crawled up into the ceiling. The officer again pulled out his stun gun and ordered Townsend to come down. After being ordered a few times and threatened with the TASER, he finally came down.
This man was desperate to get away from the law, but the law caught up with him. Now he has to serve several years for felony charges. Maybe this time, he’ll learn his lesson.
