Stun Gun Used on a Renegade Emu
There are many reasons why a police officer would use a stun gun on a person who has broken the law. But how often do you hear about an officer using one on an emu? That is exactly what happened not too long ago when an emu escaped and was running around on a highway in Mississippi.
On a Friday, two emus escaped from an emu ranch in Scott County, Mississippi. They were missing for a few days and several reports had been called in to the police. But though they had been seen by several people, they would always disappear.
The following Sunday, however, one of them were finally caught. The police were called because one of the emus was weaving in and out of traffic on Highway 20. When the police arrived, they tried to catch the flightless bird but had no luck in doing so. Since the bird had become a threat to itself as well as a driving hazard, the police were forced to use a stun gun in order to subdue it. The bird suffered no permanent injuries.
Once they had stopped the bird, they put handcuffs on it so that it couldn’t make an easy escape again. They took it to the Scott County Forest Coliseum until the owner could be found.
Nature can be a beautiful and fascinating thing, but it can also be a danger to others. If the police hadn’t used a stun gun on the emu, it could have been hit by a car or caused a wreck. There hasn’t been a report about the second emu being found yet, but hopefully they find it soon.
