Woman Uses Knife for Self Defense — With Lethal Results
In the Southeast side of Fort Wayne, Indiana, the recent stabbing of a man in the early morning hours is being considered self defense because of the preliminary facts and evidence in the case. The incident started at 4 a.m. when a woman called the police from her apartment. She had stabbed a man and he was bleeding profusely and unconscious. The police arrived and the man was taken to a local hospital. He died soon after his arrival at the facility. His death was attributed to massive blood loss from the stab wound to his neck.
The woman who stabbed him was arrested immediately and the case was considered a homicide at first. However, the case is now suspected to be a case of self defense rather than a crime. The 30-year-old man who was stabbed had a history of violent criminal activity, and he had been released from jail just last year. Ironically, the man’s previous experience with violence also involved a stabbing. The man had stabbed his uncle and served 10 years of a 25-year sentence for the offense. He has been out of jail for about 15 months when the Fort Wayne incident occurred.
Several witnesses gave statements about the incident, and the woman involved was also questioned by police. After her questioning, she was released and was not charged with homicide. The investigation is currently ongoing to assess whether the incident was the result of self defense on the part of the woman. The police have said that the incident was a domestic disturbance but have not released what type of a relationship the two had. The woman’s name has not yet been released by police. If the case is found to be self defense, no charges will be filed against her for the stabbing.
