Krav Maga; Aggressive, Effective, Realistic Self Defense
Brought from Israel in the 1980s, Krav Maga has steadily gained in popularity and availability. In Chaska, Minnesota it is providing a sense of security for residents taking classes at the local Community Center. Still taught to all soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces, Krav Maga continues to evolve and provide effective protection in the field.
Anything Goes with Krav Maga
Differing from traditional martial arts classes, Krav Maga has an “anything goes” philosophy that focuses on real life application. Constant practice in defending oneself against realistic attacks, both in the classroom and out, students are taught to improvise weapons, attack aggressively and be aware of potential hazards.
Going well beyond the simple goal of breaking free of an attacker, Krav Maga encourages attacking back to confuse and frighten the assailant. To this purpose, carrying a mini stun gun is a great idea. Small and useful, you can carry such a weapon in one hand, while you have your keys at the ready in the other. With the right knowledge you can walk to your car safely, regardless of the hour or place.
Anything is a Weapon
Not only standard weapons are used in this form of self defense. Krav Maga instructors teach their students how to identify and use whatever the environment provides. Sticks, rocks, bottles and more are all useful as defensive weapons when attacked. Classes are appropriate for children as well as adults, and will be available on a regular schedule.
Perhaps one of the primary advantages of Krav Maga is that it is designed to teach smaller individuals that they are powerful enough to participate effectively in their own self defense. With the right skills and a tazor for distance based aggression on can feel confident even at night.
