Another Fan Feels the Shock of a TASER
What on earth is happening in the world these days when it comes to individuals seeking media attention? Last week a 17-year-old boy was taken down by a TASER device at a baseball game; and now another fan has felt the shock that these weapons can deliver, only this time it was at a golf tournament.
This time it was a 36-year-old man who was at the Players Championship in Jacksonville, Florida when he was taken down and arrested by police. The offender who was seen at the scene as acting in a drunken disorder and shouting Tiger Woods near the 11th hole was ordered to calm down when officers arrived on the scene. However when he refused and became more aggressive, officers then tried to take him in, where they were met with more refusal from the suspect.
As a result, the officers then operated their TASER weapon on the suspect once, making it easier to reduce tension that could otherwise escalate.
The PGA Tour has a policy that says any individual who disrupts the golf competition or the enjoyment fans get from watching a competition will be dealt with. This was certainly the case in Jacksonville.
However it’s easy to see why TASER devices are called to assist in these types of situations; after all they are highly effective at bringing a stop to a circumstance that could turn into something more dangerous.
Quick and efficient, they allow officers to avoid exerting themselves when they can instead employ TASER devices instead.
Of course, now that the 36-year-old has experienced the power of the weapon, he won’t be quick to make a repeat of his actions. The shock of a TASER weapon is enough to force individuals to rethink their actions.
However, it can be safe to say that while people may think before doing something drastic that results in police attention, it won’t be the last incident that will be reported in the news.
Right now even, someone could be experiencing the shock of these devices that we’ll read about in tomorrow’s newspapers, wondering what prompted them to such actions, knowing that the end result wasn’t going to be something they would enjoy.
