Stun guns in the store were once a favorite purchase among the women senior citizens; however over the years the number of self defense items bought by both genders has risen as a result of senior citizens becoming a more targeted group.

What is being seen is that while women are often a targeted group when it comes to robbers, these same robbers also know that modern day women are more than likely to carry a form of self defense in their purse. Because of this offenders are switching and are targeting senior citizens instead, as they know senior citizens are less likely to resist if a robber decides to steal their purse or wallet.

Traditionally, senior citizens utilize products such as pepper spray, stun guns and personal alarms for their safety. In most cases senior citizens are not able to operate other forms of personal protection items, which is why these devices added in the California superstore have included items that are light weight and easy to use. Not only that, but most of the items are fully automated and don’t require any button pushing for activation, allowing more time to be focused on disabling an attacker.

The store in California is hoping that with these self defense products on their shelves they will be able to raise awareness of personal protection to senior citizens, thus helping to reduce crime levels in the area.

Of course, only time will tell if this has produced an effective outcome and the number of crime statistics in the California has in fact reduced as a result. And yet, with the help of modern technology, it’s going to be even harder for offenders to target any group of people thanks to the assistance of the many self defense devices available.
