Delaware Rapes Increase Self Defense in Women
Women and self defense are key components that work extremely well together when the necessary time has been put in to learn essential skills related to helping a woman protect herself should she become a target.
This is certainly the case in Delaware, after four rapes in New Castle County have pushed women to sign up for important life changing classes aimed at improving a woman’s ability to effectively protect herself in a bid to avoid becoming a rape victim. The incidents in the area are also seeing more women purchasing pepper spray which will allow a woman to carry a form of self defense around with her at all times.
The individual who initially ran two free classes aimed at self protection noted that because the courses filled up in a quick amount of time, a third class was added. Furthermore, but stores holding items such as pepper spray are seeing an increase in the number of women as well as their husbands who are buying the devices for their safety.
Police however are still investigating the four rapes that took place. Two women in the Shanton area were initially abducted at gunpoint while in their cars during the day and raped. A 9-year-old girl from Alban Park was also abducted and subsequently raped after she had accepted a ride from a stranger, while a 20-year-old woman was raped in Kosciuszko Park in Wilmington.
These incidents have caused many in Delaware to question those around them, not knowing if they themselves could become the next victim. As a result, no one is taking any chances, especially women who are taking the necessary measures in their own hands by learning skills that could prove essential when it becomes a matter of life and death.
Of course, learning self defense is an important component for many people, but there are women who don’t have the time to acquire these skills. Because of this, there is always the option of purchasing pepper spray, a stun gun, or even a TASER device, which are extremely effective tools at stopping someone from harming you. Not only that, but you can also keep these safety devices on your person, which means that you can easily retrieve them should you require their assistance.
Just because you’re a woman, it doesn’t mean someone should force themselves on you by making you a victim. Everyone should be given the chance to fight back.
