Another School Fight; Another Round of Pepper Spray
Virginia State University saw its on campus police utilizing their pepper spray after a fight broke out among high school students during the high school graduation on Ettrick campus on Thursday.
This is the latest fight that has broken out among high school students in recent weeks, and is the latest event that saw officials employing their self defense devices in a bid to break up a brawl that shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
A university spokeswoman said that no injuries or arrests had resulted on the night of the incident. The fight which took place around 30 minutes after the Dinwiddie high school graduation saw 20 people involved some of whom were former as well as current students.
Unfortunately for many of the people who attended the graduation, some of them parents of the graduates, they were shut out of the graduation ceremonies when all the seats at the event’s gymnasium had been taken up. While officials apologized because of the way the event was organized, it didn’t help the fact that many of the parents didn’t get to see their children graduate.
However, while no parents were involved in the fight, the brawl could have been the anger many of the students felt at the way things had been planned.
It wasn’t long though before police at the university campus quickly had the situation under control, which saw many individuals leave in a bid to enjoy the rest of their graduation despite its bad start.
While high school students fighting is not an uncommon occurrence, when it does happen officials at the school are now provided with the chance to quickly put an end to a situation with the assist of pepper spray. Before self defense devices such as these were in use, breaking up a school fight may have proved a lot difficult.
These days that is no longer the case, and as a result, officials are able to gain control over a circumstance in a very short amount of time that can be dealt with in a fast manner. Pepper spray is fast becoming an effective device to use in matters such as school fights.
