Dash Video Camera Shows Police Scuffle
An officer found himself in a situation that turned violent after attempting to make a routine traffic stop, that was captured on tape.
The police officer had initially pulled over the 45-year-old man on a Wednesday afternoon after a report had been made that the man was involved in a hit and run.
However when the officer attempted the traffic stop he found the suspect upset and in an aggressive manner. When an attempt was made to handcuff the individual only one handcuff was securely managed. As a result the officer then employed his TASER device, where he targeted the man’s lower back.
Unfortunately this seemed to set the 45-year-old man into a raging attack, where the video caught him lunging towards the officer and subsequently hitting him several times in the face before wrestling the officer on to his police car and sidewalk.
While the suspect holds the officer in a head lock against the car in a bid to hit him again, another officer arrives on the scene and utilizes his self defense device on the hostile man. The second time proves more of a success, allowing both officers to successfully handcuff the man and take him away into police custody.
Nowadays officers carry TASER weapons with them while on duty; but when it comes to traffic stops an officer will never know what type of person awaits them as they approach. As a result they are required to be vigilant while on duty in these instances.
In this case the suspect was pulled over after being involved in a hit and run accident. However when the officer approached the car, he found the man to be hostile. Luckily, he had his self defense tool with him where he was quick to employ it.
But he wasn’t able to effectively deliver the jolt that these devices are known for. Because of this the man became more aggressive and began fighting the officer on to his car and sidewalk, which ultimately saw the assistance of a second officer arrive.
If you are required to use a TASER device for your safety, it’s important that you do so correctly in order to achieve the impact you desire when fending off a hostile individual.
