Stun Gun Stops Teen with Knife
A 17-year-old boy was prevented from carrying a knife to his high school with the intention of harming another student after his father called police to his home in a bid to assist with the situation.
When officers arrived at the home the 17-year-old boy wielded the 5-inch knife towards them in an aggressive manner. As a result of his actions police employed a stun gun on the young boy, before he was arrested for intimidation and resisting law enforcement.
If the officers weren’t equipped with the self defense device they would have found themselves in a situation that could easily and quickly have become a deadly one, where drastic force would have been required. Without the effectiveness of the stunning device and the quickness of the officer’s actions the situation could have been very different.
When the teen’s father realized his intentions he decided to take matters into his own hands and called the police to his home. The father of the teen explained to officers that his son was armed with a knife with the intention of leaving the house and carrying it with him to his high school.
After arriving at the house officers located the teenager in the kitchen where he was armed with the knife. It wasn’t long afterwards however that they apprehended the teenager where he was ordered to hand the knife over.
In situations like the one above utilizing a stun gun for someone’s protection when a lethal weapon is involved is beneficial to all those involved. Not only does it drastically reduce the amount of injury to either the officer or the suspect, but it also limits the amount of contact an officer will have with their suspect.
This means that more time can be focused on apprehending an individual who is causing a disturbance instead of employing brute force that could otherwise be saved for other matters.
Thankfully, with the assistance of a stun gun this knife situation didn’t go any further than the house of the teenage boy and his worried father; without officers there to prevent the situation from escalating it could have turned into something different.
