Cell Phone Disguised as Prohibited Stun Gun in Canada

A Toronto man has found himself charged with possessing a weapon that is prohibited after police found a stun gun that was disguised as a cell phone in his vehicle. Officers say that they found the device when the man was travelling inside his vehicle.

According of officers the stunning device was described as looking like an older model that had a number pad and small screen. However a switch on the side permits the user to either change it to its two functioning mode: a flashlight, or a stun gun. The disguised device couldn’t actually receive or make phone calls.

Officers who seized the item went on to explain that the device was not unusually thick, and gave the appearance of looking like a real cell phone.

Even though officers have heard of these tools during their training exercises, they have never found one on a person. Stun guns are thought of as illegal weapons in Canada, and only authorized law enforcement are allowed to carry them.
