Friday 13th Worst Day for Policeman the Target of a TASER
After trying to apprehend a suspect a policeman managed to spray himself with pepper spray, was the target of a TASER device after a colleague attempted to apprehend their suspect, and had his jaw dislocated.
All in all, a drastic start to the day for this one officer.
Last month, on Friday 13th, when the incident took place the police officer’s doom initially began when he approached a man in Cornwell in Wales, to investigate a disturbance that had been reported.
The 50-year-old man squared himself up for a fight with the officer who had employed his self defense spray in a bid to subdue the man. While the first blast of the spray canister may have stopped the man, this didn’t stop him from continuing forward a second time. As a result, the officer then utilized the stinging spray a second time, only to have it blow back into his own face.
Consequently, the 50-year-old suspect then punched him, where he dislocated his jaw.
While the officer was suffering from the sting of the spray, his supporting officer fired his TASER device; however, even though one of the electrodes made contact with its target, the second one also hit the same officer who had only moments before sprayed himself with his pepper spray.
Lying on the ground paralyzed by the electrical current the suspect managed to turn to him and kick him in the face, relocating his jaw back into place.
Fortunately for the officer, more police arrived on the scene where they were able to arrest their suspect without further incidents taking place. When the officer was being treated in hospital, it wasn’t long before he could see the funny side.
But it can be assumed that he won’t be forgetting Friday 13th anytime soon, or the effects that both of the self defense tools can produce once they have been employed.
And yet, as a result of this people who own or are thinking of purchasing a TASER weapon for their safety should make sure that they employ the device correctly, otherwise they could find themselves the target of a tool they are attempting to use for their protection. One way of avoiding the misuse is to attend classes that can inform you of how to operate it in the right way.
