National Night Out Crime Prevention Measures Planned
Southern Denton County towns are getting ready to celebrate National Night Out with a series of games, social visits from fire trucks and officers, and block parties.
The yearly event has been designed to increase and strengthen the spirit of the neighborhood as well as partnerships between the community and police, while also sending a direct message to would-be criminals that neighborhoods are much better at organizing and fighting back against unnecessary crime.
Flower Mound will honor National Night Out with a Neighborhood of the Year contest which will be held along with a blood drive and a Police Department Open House.
Promotion of the neighborhood block parties are also being held by the Argyle Police Department and the Argyle Crime Control District in Settler’s Point, Country Lakes, Hickory Hill Estates and Johnson Acres.
The Crime Watch coordinator in Lantana is encouraging residents to host the block parties in all the neighborhoods in a bid to boost neighborhood bonds.
These block parties provide the ideal chance for residents to meet their neighbors and Crime Watch Captains, in addition to having fun.
Another way that neighborhoods can increase their safety within their communities is by owning a stun gun for protection. This self defense device has become a well-known and well utilized tool within the police community and public community as well.
Furthermore, over the years it has shown how extremely effective the device actually is, as one jolt from the device is enough to subdue a criminal; which provides plenty of time for you to alert police.
While neighborhood block parties are an ideal opportunity to really find out who your neighbors are, which will only further bond the ties between you, having another form of self defense in the form of a stun gun is also a good idea as well.
After all, the more protection a person has access to, the more likely their chances of successfully capturing a criminal and ultimately stopping them before they fulfill their actions. And knowing that your fellow neighbors are looking out for you, in addition to your stun gun will make you feel much safer within your community.
