House Bill Maintains Citizens Right to Self Defense
Area lawmakers recently made clear their support towards a House bill that permits citizens to employ as much force as necessary when it comes to protecting their families or themselves through self defense measures if they should find themselves up against an attack.
The Castle Doctrine would eliminate the burden that was initially placed on an individual who defends themselves against at attacker.
Before if a person shot somebody who was in their home illegally, it was taken that you did so in order to protect your family, home and yourself; however that notion could also be overcome if evidence was supported that you had another reason behind your actions. Before a person had to prove their actions involved.
The House bill will aid at clearing up the law, so that if an individual decides to enter a person’s vehicle or home, then the owner can employ as much force they believe necessary in order to maintain their family and their safety. For too long, the rights of a criminal have been protected instead of those of law abiding citizens.
Even though the House has supported the bill, the Senate will still be required to pass the bill for it to become law.
If this bill does pass, it will mean more homeowners and vehicle owners will be able to defend themselves without having to worry about providing evidence as to why they thought their self defense measures were required.
Not only that, but as mentioned above, it removes the rights of criminals being held over those of law abiding citizens. Nowadays we live in a society that often sees criminals receiving support and protection that often angers those who should be receiving the necessary protection and support.
However, with the passing of the bill through the Senate, more individuals will now be able to uphold their self defense rights when it comes to protecting their families and households from unwanted intruders.
While it may only be a small step, it is a step nonetheless that could possibly move onto greater things for the general public involved.
After all, we should all be able to defend ourselves in our own homes if someone decides to enter without our permission, without having to worry about the loss of our rights.
