Pepper Spray Not Connected with Teenager’s Death

Officers in Delta, B.C. have explained that they are still in the process of going through tip-offs that could potentially help them solve a homicide case that involved a teenage girl who was found beaten to death in a park.

Talking to reporters a Sergent said that investigators had ruled out any link between a pepper spray incident involving a fellow youth and the murder of the young woman found in the park.

The police are also attempting to confirm the identity of a man who was seen vacating the park where the 15-year-old female victim was left. While this man may not have been involved, he may prove vital with passing on important information that could further help the case.

The 15-year-old girl was attacked in the early afternoon just outside of Vancouver as she made her way through Mackie Park.

A young man, aged between 16 and 25-years-old, was spotted leaving the park, and is believed to have either been texting or talking on a cellphone.

Officers assured the public that they will continue on the case even though they will soon be leaving the scene of the crime. While their scene investigation may be at an end, officers in the area want to stress that this is no indication that they are closing the case.

Additionally, officers are reminding residents to be alert to their surroundings at all times, and that they should continue with their daily routines.
