Officers are asking for witnesses and information regarding two daytime house burglaries that took place moments apart along the same road in Essex, England.

The burglaries which took place October 13, saw the first burglary occur between 1:50 p.m., and 3:20 p.m. and saw damage caused around £500, while £350 of stolen money was taken.The burglars smashed a rear window to gain entry.

The second burglary took place between 2:10 p.m., and 3:45 p.m. where £500 of damage was caused and £150 in Euros was stolen. Here the burglars gained entry by employing a spade to force their way through a rear window.

The Uttlesford district crime reduction advisor believes that the suspects who targeted the homes were not from the area. He believes that nowadays burglaries in villages are very seldom undertaken by local criminals, and in most cases the burglars are opportunists who travel miles away from their own neighborhoods to target suitable areas.

Being on the lookout for any outsiders could play key in determining who these burglars are. The crime reduction advisor went on to add that there was nothing wrong with the villages politely challenging strangers. While it doesn’t have to be confrontational, the villages can simply find out whether they are lost, or just need assistance.

Additionally, if the outsiders were up to no good, then they would soon make excuses and quickly vacate the area. The fact that they are outsiders should also make them easy to spot, and many are now on the lookout for any strangers.
