Citizens Fight Back After Garage Attacks

As a result of two attacks occurring at a Harrisburg Parking Garage in two months residents are taking measures to learn self defense techniques in a bid to defend themselves.

The first line of knowing how to protect yourself is called situational awareness. For instance, when a person drives a car, they are constantly checking their rear view and side mirrors. This technique should also be applied when someone is not inside a car. It’s important to always be aware of your surroundings.

And if trouble does eventually find you, you will be ready simply because you were aware of what was going on around you.

Many taking advantage of learning self defense learnt how to kick, punch in addition to knowing how to get out of a head lock. Some of the residents at the classes spend most of their time outside, whether it’s from walking their dogs or running, and as a result want to be prepared in case they find themselves confronted with an assailant.

While living in the city comes with a certain amount of danger, many are afraid of the random attacks that appear to be happening.

In River Street Parking Garage, a woman and her husband were grabbed from their car and beaten by ten black men, while in August, in the same garage, a man attempted to strange a woman in an elevator.

But when it comes to self defense, it’s important that those gaining the skills learn it, and constantly practice what they know. Anyone has the ability to do different moves in the air, but it can make a lot of difference when those moves are done on a person, because different people present different speeds and body types. No one can know who is going to attack them.

Simply knowing how to defend yourself could mean the different between life and death. When someone decides to target you as a potential easy victim, you should be able to protect yourself. No one has the right to take that ability away from you which is why it’s important for people in all areas to learn the vital skills related to self defense; after all you never know when you may have to rely upon them to get yourself out of a dangerous situation.
