Stun Gun Prevents Antifreeze Suicide
Kansas City police employed a stun gun on a man attempting to take his own life after trying to inject himself with antifreeze on the Country Club Plaza.
Officers were called to the scene after a woman explained that her boyfriend was planning to kill himself by jumping into Brush Creek. When officers arrived at the scene they found the 42-year-old man located near the creek, and soon chased him into a parking garage.
After realizing that he was cornered, the man took a syringe from his shirt pocket; however two officers were quick enough to fire their stun guns at the suicidal man which promptly saw the man drop to the ground.
Soon after police arrested the man in question where he was taken to a hospital for evaluation. When hospital workers searched him they found a suicidal note with his property.
As it can be illustrated from this situation, the utilization of a stun gun proved extremely vital and effective at preventing a man from taking his own life. A firearm would have produced lethal results and talking to the man into handing over the syringe may have produced little effect on the course of action the 42-year-old was decided on. However, the stunning device eliminated the need to worry about harming him as it delivered the decisive and quick results that officers were after.
Officers serve to protect the lives of citizens and as a result they require a device that not only protects, but also apprehends those who are a danger to others. This is where a stun gun comes into play.
