Communities on Edge over Invading Burglaries
A rise in burglaries is hitting the streets of Delaware setting communities of edge.
From 2009, reports of crime jumped 15 percent while state figures show that the pace is set to increase by another two percent this year.
The state’s burglary hot spots include Wilmington, Bear and, to a lesser degree, the northeastern corner of Sussex County. This is based on almost four years of crime reports from the Delaware Criminal Justice Information System.
Residents in the Bear area know that they must lock up their homes and sheds at night, explaining that if anything is left outside, by morning it’s gone.
The reasons, however, for the rise in crime levels is not clear.
What is clear though is the fact that the days when everyone was rich in their neighborhoods are gone. As a result of this crime is beginning to increase. However, crime experts and police explain that the economy only has a slight effect on property crime, for example fraud, theft and burglary. Whereas, it’s had no effect on violent crimes.
Many believe that just because the economy may suddenly turn bad, that doesn’t mean crime levels will rise. Others however, don’t agree. Security companies are noticing a rise in new customers purchasing home security kits after being victimized by burglars, or who had neighbors that were burglarized.
As a result, more people are generally seen to be uneasy when the economy turns bad.
Of course, while home security systems are a good investment that will deter potential burglars from targeting a particular home, it is also worthwhile for home owners to consider purchasing a TASER device for their protection against home invaders too.
When a community is suddenly targeted and the crime levels rise, people get scared. They want to be able to turn to a device that will protect their families from harm in the most effective way possible.
Not only that, but families that have lived in the same area for many years will find that that sense of security that was once in place is no longer there after a number of burglaries happen within that neighborhood.
However, if they own a TASER device they will be capable of protecting what is most valuable to them: their family.
