Confiscated Cell Phone with Built-In Stun Gun

Police recently charged an owner in New Jersey with possession of an illegal weapon after they confiscated a cell phone with a built-in stun gun.

The phone which was made in China that incorporated the stunning device is an illegal device to own in New Jersey, as are all other forms of these self defense devices. Officers discovered the tool after pulling over the individual for failing the have working break lights.

When officers were talking to the man in question they noticed a box in the car with the words cell phone stun gun and questioned him and a fellow passenger as to the contents. While both occupants in the car claimed they didn’t know anything about the box, officers found the cell phone was equip with a stunning button.

The owner of the vehicle admitted that he had purchased the device in order to provide his girlfriend with protection.

The officers who had discovered the cell phone stun gun said they had not experienced this before. After pressing the button the device produced a buzzing electrical sound; however, officers don’t know if it actually works as no one has tried it out.

New Jersey officers are not sure where the phone was purchased, but since words on the device were misspelled, it is believed that it may have been a street purchase.

Of course, while the device itself was intended to increase a person’s protection, it is important beforehand that anyone interested in buying a stun gun for safety, checks and sees whether the state they live in deems them legal or not.

Even though they are employed for safety reasons, there are several states which deem their use as illegal. As a result of this, turning to others forms of personal protection would be required, such as the ownership of pepper spray.

Finding this information out to begin with will ultimately prevent the possibility of receiving a charge for possessing an illegal weapon. While you may be prevented for owning a stun gun due to state rules, there are always other avenues to consider which will provide a powerful device as an alternative for a person’s needs.
