Self Defense Tips All Women Should Know
A Washington State jogger who was recently attacked while jogging has said that trusting your intuition is important to fending off an attacker, as well as fighting for your life.
In most cases, when a woman leaves for a night out, last minute checks are undertaken to ensure they have what they need, but how often do they check their self defense skills? Regardless of whether a woman is coming or going, it’s vital that life skills are part of your package. After all, there may come a time when you need them.
Thankfully, most women already pack some protection – intuition. This built-in intelligence gathering system alerts you to warning signals that range from quiet voices in your head to full on alarms to chilling sensations, and all of these are fore warnings to potential danger.
Of course, while this may be a good start, it’s not enough to maintaining your protection. Not everyone is equip with shrewed perceptions and instincts. Bear in mind, that predators know what skills to employ when it comes to deceiving and disarming a woman’s warning system. Even though a woman may be forewarned, a man of average size has the potential to close a distance of 21 feet in just under 1.5 seconds.
This was the case for the jogger. Once her alarm bells went off, she fled, just as he decided to attack.
Remember, that all forms of fighting back helps, such as hitting, biting, screaming, employing a weapon, martial arts or other forms of physical self defense moves. These strategies have shown that they don’t increase the risk of injury. On the other hand, not fighting back, for example reasoning, crying and pleading, are not effective at deterring a predator from attacking.
It’s important to bear in mind that when you need to fight back, keep it simple. Forget the fancy techniques. In most cases, with the mixture of a rapidly beating heart and adrenaline, complex motor skills decline.
Women should also think about employing their hips in self defense to deliver more power. Additionally, use your strengths against vulnerabilities on your predator. Whatever you can get your hands on, use your elbows, knees, feet, fists and legs.
Think like a Marine and take control of the situation. There is no need for you to become a victim and just as importantly, trust your instincts.
